![]() ![]() I wish I would've had it with the others, because I would have been a lot more at peace driving with them, knowing they were as well-protected as possible. This is the first I've seen where that will never happen. I've been shaking and pushing on friend's infant car seats for years, and every one that I've tested has the unsafe rebound where the baby could almost hit the back seat of the car in a front or rear collision. Our 5 pounder fits in with the foam perfectly. The "low birth weight" foam works perfectly to position the baby. It is noticeable heavier than the old Graco or other more cheaply-made seats, but it is not un-carryable. With a rolled blanket around his head, the baby's head stays upright and doesn't slump forward. These side impact wings are quite hard and solid, and actually keep baby's head upright. In the old Graco seat, the baby's head would slump over even with the add-on head protectors I would put in. I not only feel safer with the baby in it, I KNOW he is safer after watching the videos of what actually happens in front and rear collisions. Installed in the van, there is absolutely NO movement, either side to side or front to back, unlike the competition's. This Britax with the rebound bar keeps this unsafe movement from happening. I didn't think there was something to combat this until I really started looking. How that classifies as safe is beyond me, and it always left me cringing to have to drive with the baby in that seat, even though it was installed properly. Installed correctly, you could lift up the front of the Graco where the baby's head is and lift it all the way back and it would almost touch the back of the seat. I had used the Graco with all 4 of the other children and what always worried me about it and almost every other car seat was the rebound that very apparent even after it was properly installed. We bought this car seat to bring home our small baby from the NICU since the Graco one we had was "too old". ![]()
